As Mazuri® Marmoset Jelly is very palatable, there is the risk of over consumption which, as gelatin is slightly purgative, could give rise to diarrhea. The jelly should never become the sole source of food and should not constitute more than 25% of the diet (as fed). Small amounts of fruit and other foods, preferably Mazuri® New World Primate Diet, should also be available.

  • Mix, by weight, 60% boiling water to 40% Mazuri® Marmoset Jelly powder. For a firmer product, use 50% boiling water to 50% powder.
    • Greater bulk can be obtained by mixing ground Mazuri® New World Primate Diet with the powder before adding the hot water to make a gel.
  • Mix thoroughly with a spoon, fork or whisk for one minute, then pour into a shallow pan and allow to cool.
  • Refrigerate until firm. Cut into pieces appropriately sized for the animals being fed.

Prepared jelly should only be offered when the animal may be expected to consume it in a short period of time. Food intake will vary and it is advisable to ensure that the animals are hungry and that the choice of other foods available is limited.
Thoroughly wash feed and water bowls on a regular basis. It is always good practice to wash hands thoroughly after feeding and/or handling animals. This diet is not for human consumption.

Storage Conditions
Ensure canister lid is secured between usages. Mixed product should be handled like raw fish/meat, stored no longer than 7 days under refrigeration or up to 1 month frozen. Mazuri® Gel Diets have a 1-year shelf life in the dry powder form when stored in a cool (75°F/24°C or colder), dry (approximately 50% RH) location protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed to animals as it may cause illness, performance loss or death.
